Foster places 5th at Tulsa National Kickoff

TULSA, Okla. - Luke Foster opened his 5th grade club wrestling season with a trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he competed in one of the largest and most prestigious tournaments in the United States. The 23rd Annual World of Wrestling Kickoff Classic was held at Tulsa's Expo Square Pavilion and featured nearly 1800 wrestlers from 35 different states. Foster wrestled tough, going 6-2 to capture 5th place in the 32-man field of the 10U 64-pound bracket. 

In his opening bout, Foster fell to the eventual champion, Justin Farnsworth of Broad Axe wrestling club out of Pennsylvania. Foster quickly bounced back winning his next 5 matches in the consolation bracket. Foster dropped a close 1-0 match to Teagan Caciolo of Emmaus Hornets (PA) in the consolation semi-final but closed out the tournament on top with a commanding 17-2 technical fall over Cale Richardson of Oklahoma Wrestling Academy to claim his 5th place medal.

During the two day event, Foster wrestled 8 matches and faced opponents from 7 different states all while securing bonus point wins in 4 of his 6 victories, including 2 pins, a technical fall and a major decision.
